Are Reverse Osmosis Water Units the Answer to Your Water Woes?

Reverse osmosis water units can remove harmful contaminants from your drinking water, but perhaps its not the simple solution it presents itself to be. With an increase in health, awareness comes much talk about the benefits of drinking water, and the dangers that can be contained in the water you choose to drink.

However, along with dangerous toxins such as lead, chlorine, pesticides, copper, and mercury there are also natural minerals in water that our bodies need. Reverse osmosis water units remove both the harmful contaminants along with the healthy minerals our bodies need.

Let’s face it, we’ve all heard the reports about the dangers of today’s drinking water, but what have we done to combat the threat those dangers pose to our families? If you are like me you buy bottled water, but that is about it. Unfortunately, bottled water has been found to have just as many, if not more contaminants than tap water. The water we pay for is often nothing more than processed tap water put in a pretty bottle.

The only way to be certain the water we are drinking, cooking with, washing our bodies and clothes in; is to arm ourselves with a water purification system that employs a dual chamber, multi-filtration system that can provide our families with the purest water available, which still includes the beneficial minerals in it. Reverse osmosis systemes unfortunately cannot differentiate between chorine, lead, and natural trace minerals like a multi-chamber filtration system, which uses a combination of carbon filters ion exchange, and sub micron filtration can.

Water contaminants have been linked to serious health risks such as cancer, high blood pressure, liver and kidney disease, attention deficit disorder, gastrointestinal problems and even reproduction complications. The dangers to infants and children are even greater than it is to adults. Reverse osmosis water units claim to provide water up to 99% free of unwanted substances commonly found in well and tap water. The drawback from this system is that it also filters out the natural minerals our bodies need. Buying bottled water is not the answer to unsafe drinking water.

By taking some time to do the research you can find a dual chamber multi-filtration system for your home, office or travel that will guarantee you safe drinking water, which takes away only the things you don’t want it, while leaving the things you do.

Reverse osmosis systemes were designed to desalinate seawater back in the 1950’s, and are now used in a number of areas to filtrate various products, not just water. Dialysis uses the process of reverse osmosis for those who suffer from kidney failure. The dialysis machine mimics the function of the kidneys by filtering the blood to remove waste and water using an osmotic filter.

There is no argument that reverse osmosis offers various uses which can be very helpful, but when it comes to our drinking water, we have to be aware of what the process used in a reverse osmosis water unit is taking out of the water.

There are many considerations to make before purchasing a reverse osmosis system, such as the cost and waste associated. The effectiveness of contaminant removal from a reverse osmosis water unit depends on several factors including: water pressure, contaminant concentration levels, proper installation and the membrane you choose to use. A typical household reverse osmosis water unit delivers only 2 to 10 gallons of treated water per day, while releasing up to 20 times that amount as waste. Reverse osmosis water units also require regular maintenance, monitoring, and upkeep to perform at satisfactory levels for an extended period.

Stripping drinking water of minerals does not make the water harmful to us, but it certainly reduces the benefits water provides us from minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium to name a few. I know I have a hard time drinking the recommended eight 8 oz. glasses of water a day, I want to be sure what I am drinking is helping me and not harming me. My research on reverse osmosis water units has proven to me that this is not the option I want to use to purify and filter my drinking water. However, you should do your own research to see for yourself. Using a multi-chamber water filtration system, which combines carbon filters ion exchange, and sub micron filtration I know I am giving my family drinking water free from harmful contaminants and still rich in trace minerals their bodies need.
